As I walked thru, berwick, reflecting,
Women give the best blessings
and curses
Among all the politics of men,
That follow
Like a thorny path, long abandoned
But the memory piercing, asserting
It’s oppression. In men apes, long forgotten.
As I walked thru that landscape of derision,
Lawns reared their heads, and I bowed to the grass,
As a lover might, as the rain bounced back up.
Held up by the trees, bird wings and grey sky,
A dog came laughing by, and we all joined in,
A hymn to the Great Mother smiling.
I knew, the birds too, magpie, ducks, ones
With black eyes. That there’s no secret, goodness that something,
That beauty and love, are held within this whole
Greatness. And the men in their cars, can have
The universe they don’t know, I’ll be here,
Beside her, who feeds me with love, me reverence.
And then thru it you come, in your car,
In that moment, breaking thru, the face of my
Goddess, queen of love, the reason for woman, for Life.
